Kisumu County Sponsored side, Kisumu All Stars on Friday returned to winning ways in the National Super League (NSL) with a 2-1 win over hosts Isibania FC in a match played at the Awendo Green Stadium in Migori County.
Gerishom Arabe and Denis Ochieng were the scorers for the Nickanor Aketch led side.
“Goals from Gerishom Arabe in the 8th minute and Denis Ochieng in the 71st minute ensured we come out of Migori County with maximum points,” posted the team on Facebook after the match.
It was the Blue Eagle’s first win in four matches after going through a rough path of consecutive draws against heavyweights Western Stima, Ushuru FC and KCB.
The team is now 6th on the NSL table with 22 points after 12 matches, 9 points behind leaders Western Stima.
Stima has played a game more.Kisumu All Stars will next be in action against Police FC at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu on Tuesday.
The team which was formed last year is experiencing financial difficulties.
Kisumu governor Professor Peter Anyang Nyong’o will on May 4 preside over a fundraiser at the Acacia Premier Hotel, in aid of the team.
“As you will agree, it is costly running a football team without co-operating sponsorship. It is to this end that the Governor has agreed to preside over a fundraising event to assist the county meet its financial obligations and at the same time we will be encouraging sponsors to come on board as partners,” said the team’s Patron Achie Ojany Alai in relation to the event.
