Kenya National Soccer Team Harambee Stars Striker Kepha Aswani has left Nakumatt FC and joined 2009 Kenya Premier League (KPL) Champions Sofapaka.

The striker who was on duty for Harambee Stars during the just concluded Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) Senior challenge cup becomes Sofapaka’s first signing ahead of the 2018 KPL season.

The player has joined Batoto Ba Mungu on a one year contract deal.

The goal poacher was a target for several KPL clubs among them his former club AFC Leopards, after a successful 2017 KPL season.

Kepha Aswani scored 13 goals in KPL’s 2017 season.  Kariobangi Sharks striker Juma Masoud scored 17 goals while Gor Mahia’a striker Meddie Kagere scored 14 goals, to become the only players to beat the former Thika United striker.

His goals saw Nakumatt FC evade relegation, after finishing 15h on the KPL log with 39 points. Nakumatt FC won 10, drew 9 and lost 15 matches in the league in 2017.

At Sofapaka, Kepha Aswani will compete for a starting place in the team with the likes of Umaru Kasumba, Morven Otinya, Ezekiel Okare and Meshack Karani.

Sofapaka has started rebuilding for next year’s KPL season. The team finished second in the 2017 campaign with 55 points; 19 points behind champions Gor Mahia.

The player signed for Nakumatt FC over a year ago, from 2017 Gotv Champions AFC Leopards.
