Lowly-ranked Harambee Stars stunned visitors Amavubi of Rwanda when they found the back of the net twice in their Cecafa opening match.
The match was played Sunday at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega.
Stars rose into the lead courtesy of a Masoud Juma penalty strike in the beginning minutes of the match.
Duncan Otieno was at it again in the 37th minute, sending a long ranger from outside the box to go past a flat-footed Amavubi custodian.
No goals were scored in the second half to leave the match at 2-0 for Kenya.
Stars next play Libya at Machakos Stadium on Tuesday.
