Siaya County Chief Officer for education Dorothy Owino said that there are many organisations and banks including Equity, KCB and Co-operative bank which all give sponsorship to bright and needy students, which parents should seek help from.

She advised parents and guardians to start seeking support from such organisation early enough to ensure all qualified pupils join secondary schools.

Speaking in Siaya, she congratulated the County for posting better results and acknowledged all the education stakeholders who worked tirelessly to ensure zero tolerance to exam irregularities in the region.

Owino has also encouraged those who did not manage to attain the desired marks to consider joining Youth Polytechnics and Vocational Training Centres where they can acquire technical skills to be able to meet their career objectives.

“There are several institutions where one can acquire other technical techniques in case they miss a place in secondary schools and universities,” said Owino.

She challenged them to explore such avenues to completely eliminate a backlog of untrained youths in the region, adding that the government also gives bursaries to student in the youth polytechnics.
