Speaking at Kikuyu town on Thursday, the MCA said empowerment programmes will help address unemployment.

The MCA observed that unemployment remains a big challenge to young people in the constituency and in the county.

“The government should implement more measures aimed at addressing unemployment,” said Wainaina.

The MCA said the county has enough funds and resources that should be used to start empowerment programs.

He stated that unemployment has seen many young people engage in social evils like prostitution and drug abuse.

Wainaina stated that if not addressed urgently, unemployment will cripple development in the county.

Meanwhile, the MCA wants the county government to repair road networks which he observed are in poor state.

He observed that with the start of rains most of the roads will be rendered impassable hence inconveniencing businessmen.

Wainaina also called for urgent repair of street lights in Kikuyu town to help curb instances of crime and boost 24 hour economy.
