Naivasha MP John Kihagi wants the county government and the State to boost security in the sub county.
Speaking in Naivasha town on Sunday, Kihagi raised concerns over the deteriorating security in some parts of Naivasha.
He alleged that criminal gangs are roaming and causing havoc and called for police intervention.
“I want to ask the county and the national government to improve security in Naivasha and adjacent estates,” he said.
The MP said that several cases of crime have been reported in Naivasha town and Karagita estate.
Kihagi called on the police to mount more security patrols and deal with the said criminals. He stated that the sub county will not achieve development if criminal are left to roam freely.
Sub county commissioner Abraham Kemboi while responding to the claims assured that security will be beefed up.
He said appropriate measures have been initiated to promote security of residents.
Kemboi however urged residents to collaborate with the law enforces as they focus on promoting security.
He said no one will be victimised for providing information to the police.
At the same time, Kihagi challenged the youths to apply for development funds and stop complaining over lack of opportunities.
Speaking at Karagita shopping centre in Naivasha, Kihagi expressed disappointment over the low number of youths seeking development funds.
“It is saddening that Naivasha youths are complaining of unemployment yet they are not applying for Uwezo fund. Very few young people have applied for Uwezo Funds and most of the money is lying idle in bank accounts,” he said.
He appealed to area youths to form groups and access the funds which he said will help curb unemployment.
