A section of leaders from Nyamira County have criticised the government over the delay in compensating the internally displaced persons saying the move has created loopholes for con men to solicit money from the IDPs claiming they are registering them a new.

Gabriel Amenya, a Nairobi-based businessman and politician has expressed frustrations that to date, IDPs from Gusii region are yet to be compensated.

"Why should the government wait until our frustrated people start getting conned. The funds for compensation were released a long time ago. The State authorities have the list of the IDPs, when shall this mess end?" posed Amenya.

He asked the concerned authorities under the leadership of Nyamira County Commissioner Joseph Rotich to follow up the matter with haste to enable the IDPs get their lives back.

"This matter keeps refreshing our minds to the post-election violence every time its highlighted, let the government deal with it once and for all," said Amenya.
