The government is banking on Information Communication Technology (ICT) to boost service delivery, President Uhuru Kenyatta has said.

Speaking during the 10th Graduation Ceremony at the Kabarak University in Nakuru on Friday, Kenyatta said that his government is keen to utilize ICT in provision of service delivery.

He said that various measures have been put in place to encourage adoption of ICT in service delivery.

The President said that adoption of ICT in service delivery will enable efficiency and accuracy in delivery of services to the public.

“My government has initiated various programmes meant to ensure application of ICT in service delivery to the public,” said the President.

The Head of State said that all government ministries and agencies have been encouraged to use ICT in delivering of services.

He indicated that the economy will grow tremendously if ICT is adopted adding that use technology has the potential of addressing most challenges facing the society.

Kenyatta who launched an Online Education Platform at the University pledged to support innovation and talent.

The president said that most young people have talent and innovative ideas that need to be nurtured.

“We are ready to nurture talent and innovative among the youths,” he stated.

Kenyatta at the same time asked universities to invest in research in order to provide solutions to issues facing the society.

He said that the government will channel more funds to the research sector with the aim of encouraging students to venture into knowledge search.
