Kenyans have reacted angrily to the names that were featured in the state commendation list; Kenya's highest civilian honour.
While names like Fatuma Zarika deserved the honour bestowed upon them, Kenyans were at a loss when it came to names like githeri man.
Many felt that the honour was being trivialised by the president as those deserving people like the doctors who separated conjoined twins at Kenyatta Hospital were left out.
Kenyans ranted for hours on end over the state commendation list.
''What is this... What are Robert Alai and githeri man doing on that list.'' Alice Ratemo tweeted.
''Hehe! let me laugh. This is a joke.'' Pius Wanjigi posted on Facebook.
The list has left many wondering what criteria were used in choosing those to be honoured.
