The government has been criticized over the new education curriculum.

A Machakos based NG0  has said that the 2-6-3-3-3 curriculum does not cater for children living with cerebral palsy.

Doors of Hope NGO programs director Jacqueline Shibalira has called on the ministry of education to create classes for such children.

"Why keep training special teachers while there are no schools for them to teach once they graduate?"

"In each of the public schools, there should be classes or centres for children with cerebral palsy," Shibalira said.

She was speaking during a training of parents at the organisation's offices in Athi River, Machakos county.

"There is a lot of myths, misconceptions and stigma on cerebral palsy, especially among most parents and caregivers.

"Shibalira further condemned parents who lock up their children living with disabilities saying this makes them miss out on support initiatives.
