The State has deployed heavy security in Nairobi ahead of the swearing in of Nairobi Governor-elect Mike Sonko at Uhuru Park.
President Uhuru Kenyatta is among key leaders expected at the function set to begin at 9 am.
Sonko last week rejected a Sh25 million disbursement meant to cater for the function, terming it too huge an amount that could instead be used to offset county workers' salaries that were in arrears.
He has also initiated a city cleaning programme even before being sworn in.
On Saturday, the president met with Nairobi Jubilee elected leaders where he urged them to work in harmony and avoid squabbles after assuming office.
