State House has dismissed allegations by NASA leader Raila Odinga that the recently launched Standard Gauge Railway was overpriced to the tune of Sh123 billion above the actual cost.
Speaking to the press on Sunday, State House spokesperson Manoah Esipisu told off Raila over this overpricing claim.
Esipisu referred Raila to the relevant ministry as well as the Kenya Railways Corporation (KRC) for more details on the multibillion-shilling project.
In a press statement, Esipisu argued that the project has surpassed government’s projection, with some 1,300 people Sunday alone booking for passenger services.
“It is common knowledge that propagandists and purveyors of empty rhetoric, not believing that the train would be delivered on time and on budget have now focussed their noises on the notion that the SGR was somehow overpriced,” Esipisu said.
“Nothing could be further from the truth.”
