Details have now emerged of a tailor-made marketing and research unit in State House to gauge President Kenyatta's popularity ahead of the 2017 general elections.
The unit is said to be involved in monitoring issues on public perception by the electorate, and even conducting monthly opinion polls with the aim of crafting campaign initiatives that shall see Jubilee government attain massive votes in the forth coming election exercise.
According to a news update published in Kenyan local dailies, State House initiative marks a major shift from the traditional campaign strategies where aspirants go into the ballot without a prior test of their manifestos.
Information regarding State House research unit came into the public domain in March when Infotrak issued its findings that President Kenyatta could hardly manage the fifty plus one percent of total votes.
The Infotrak findings indicated that Kenyatta would get 44.5 percent compared to the opposition Raila who would have a share of 28.7 percent as of March 2016.
To counter the Infotrak findings, State House released its own poll findings that had Kenyatta ranked much higher than reported by the independent Infotrak. State House director of communications was also quoted making a reference claim that Infotrak was a propagandist body with unreliable findings, citing its market research report that had Kenyatta's popularity shoot up tremendously as Raila records a sharp decline.
