It says it needs sh1.2 billion as reported in the current financial year. However, the house should shed some light on the reason as to why it needs the additional money. This will see State House, through Lawrence Lenayapa, appear before the administration and national security committee of the National Assembly defend the State House.

This comes after the supplementary budget of the 2015/2016 was last week tabled before the parliament. The national treasury has also loaned sh100 million for domestic travel in the office of the deputy president.

The news has been opposed by the Kibera residents who say the government is overspending.

‘‘Why should the state house be given more money? I don’t see any need of allowing the rich to get more money while people are still languishing in poverty. This shows that the government has money but the leaders are too greedy to share the money with the public. If some Kibera residents are going hungry due to lack of food, our youths are educated but lack jobs, yet some people are being given sh. 100 million for domestic travel, then I think this country has lost a sense of humanity. This is cruelty,’’ said David Onyango.
