Makau said the President has got no mandate to single handedly decide and direct the Treasury to allocate funds for implementation of projects in any part of the country for whatever reason.

“There are some politicians from Ukambani who are propelling propaganda that the resent delegates’ visit to State House has made the residents receive title deeds to their lands and Machakos, Makueni and Kitui Counties are yet to receive more development projects from the State due to the visit, this is nonsense,” said Makau.

Makau who addressed the public in Athi River town on Sunday said no project can be implemented by the government in any part of the country using public funds before it is passed in Parliament.

“The new constitution states that any public fund the government intends to use in implementing projects must be passed in Parliament, even the President cannot just say he is bringing projects in Ukambani and it just happens,” said Makau.

He said water, roads, land and other projects already announced that the President will address during his visit in Ukambani region between 19th and 21st this month had all passed through Parliament.

Makau told Machakos County residents not to be fooled by Governor Alfred Mutua that the land title deeds which they were issued with by the State were as a result of the State House visit.

“Somebody who is a cheat will cheat that the projects come from government due to going to State House, even the President cannot come out and just say he is bringing a project to Eastern Kenya, there is no way you can cheat the Kamba nation,” said Makau.

He said as leaders from the region, they started pushing the government for issuance of title deeds in Ukambani during the reign of Charity Ngilu as the Lands Cabinet Secretary.

The MP said it does not take the residents to pay visits to State House for them to benefit from development projects from the government.

“According to Chapter Five of the constitution, every citizen has a right to have title deeds to his land, it is not a favor from the State. You cannot bring us title deeds within a week after visiting State House and then claim it is the visit that has made the government release the documents, title deeds cannot be processed in a week’s time,” he said.

He dispelled the notion that Kamba leaders have to work with the Jubilee administration for Machakos, Makueni and Kitui counties to benefit from government projects.

Makau criticised politicians from the region who are opposed to Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka though they are in power courtesy of the party.

He said national politics has gone tribal hence urged the locals to unite and support Musyoka’s bid as Cord’s flag bearer in 2017 elections.

“National politics has gone tribal, I call for unity in Ukambani. We as a Kamba community need to unite behind Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka. Raila has agreed that Kalonzo is going to be the flag bearer, if Raila says Kalonzo tosha, game shot,” he said.
