The national government has warned politicians in Uasin Gishu against making inciting remarks ahead of the general elections.
Speaking to journalists on Monday in Eldoret town, county commissioner Abdi Hassan announed that the state has moved to lay down mechanisms that would help in averting possible chaos and violence in the region ahead of the forthcoming polls.
He further confirmed that the state will be deploying recording gadgets to political rallies to curb the issuance of hate remarks by political leaders.
“The government has provided recording gadgets to help us monitor all rallies. Those who will be found contravening the law will be dealt with," he noted.
He also directed that all political rallies be licenced, citing rise of insecurity in the region.
“We will have adequate security in all areas and are mapping out our strategies on how to deal with those who will defy the law," he said.
“We will not allow what happened here in 2007/8 to happen again. We have done a lot to reunite communities. No one will be allowed to take us back," he added.
