Garissa County has remained a region of concern not only to the locals but to the country at large.
It is the county that has suffered greatly, the effects of runaway insecurity majorly due to its vulnerability to terror attacks.
Certainly, it is the county that reported the largest causality from a single terrorist attack in the Kenya's soil. However, security in the far North county is gradually restoring thanks to the collaborative endeavour by the residents who are now working closely with security officers to bring the much-desired change.
It is this same momentum that the regional police commander, Edward Mwamburi wants practised in the area.
Garissa has not witnessed a single attack since the deadly terrorist massacre on Garissa University College last year. This wave of a conducive environment is what the area police boss wants to maintain.
Mwamburi was speaking during the police rescue competition held in the county.
He has challenged officer to make use of the skills they acquired noting that the speed at which causality is attended will make a big difference.
The competition was organised by St John's ambulance and saw Wajir County emerge the overall winner.
