The government has warned the Mombasa Republican Council (MRC) against interfering with the nation's security ahead of the 2017 general election.
Government spokesperson Eric Kiraithe said police officers will deal with anyone who will provoke national security agencies as the elections draw closer.
Kiraithe’s remarks come a few weeks after a gang raided Kombani AP camp in Kwale County, leaving three officers with injuries.
It is reported that the gang was armed with different weapons including poisoned arrows and pangas during the raid.
Speaking in Mombasa on Friday, Kiraithe hinted that there is a possibility that MRC was behind the AP camp attack.
He further said that the security officers in the nation are re-evaluating their strategies to enable them deal with the group.
During the last general election, MRC members are said to have caused tension in Mombasa for days after attacking some of the residents.
The national and county government of Mombasa led by Governor Hassan Joho are putting in place measures to ensure that peace prevails during the elections.
