The cabinet has approved a budget of Sh4.2 billion for the hosting of next year's Africa Nations Championships (Chan).

This was confirmed after a cabinet meeting held at State House yesterday.

The disbursement comes just three days before the Confederation of African Football (Caf) makes the final decision on the country's ability to host the event at their executive meeting in Accra, Ghana.

Caf could also consider the political temperatures in the country before making their final decision.

Four stadia namely Kasarani, Nyayo, Kinoru and Kipchoge Keino are behind schedule although the Caf team of inspectors who visited the country last week showed satisfaction with the progress and showed optimism that the work will be through in time for the tournament.
