The County Government of Trans Nzoia has called on the Kenyan government to do away with the subsidy scheme that has seen consumers procure flour cheaply.Deputy Governor Stanley Tarus called for the government to instead buy already-harvested maize from farmers.''Farmers have lots of maize that they have harvested and the government should buy it from them instead of importing maize. They should be given a fair price so that they can release the maize,'' Tarus said. The Deputy Governor spoke on Thursday in Endebess sub-county.
