Speaking in Kikuyu town on Tuesday, Kiambu senator Kimani Wamatangi said lack of reforms is the major cause of laxity in the force.

The senator added that the government must work out and improve the welfare and interests of the police force.

“The government should focus on implementing police reforms to give our officers confidence and pride of working,” he said.

Wamatangi noted that many police officers have been demoralized due to poor pay and working conditions.

The senator at the same time asked the government to invest in modern technology as an easy way of tracking criminals, and also ensure that the existing CCTV surveillance across major towns are working.

The senator said that time for the criminals to be hunted down and action taken against them has come, further asking the Kiambu County Government to initiate appropriate measures that will curb crime.

He said that measures being taken by the county towards security are not satisfactorily.

The senate lawmaker asked Kenyans to be vigilant and report crime to the police immediately it happens.
