An American Education Volunteer Group (EVG) currently visiting Nakuru has urged the government and other stakeholders to introduce school feeding programmes in all schools in the country.
In an interview with this writer the group leader Adam Richardson said that this will help to improve education level in the country.
Speaking at Mwangaza Junior Academy in Kaptembwa estate Richardson noted that feeding programme will help students to concentrate on their studies.
“This will help students to concentrate on their studies since it will prevent the psychological disorders and effects that are caused by search for food,” said Richardson.
He further noted that most children walk for long distances or go out of school during tea or lunch breaks hence distorting learning moods.
On the other hand, the volunteer observed that most children who could not afford meals were likely to be affected psychologically hence failing to perform well in class.
“This is a simple practical observation based on reality. Not every child can afford adequate meals during learning. It is also important to restrict movement of children during learning to enhance teaching procedures,” he concluded.
