The Government has insisted that it has sufficient evidence to have the four Garissa terror suspects denied bond and remanded at the police cells.
Daniel Wamosa, the principal prosecutor on Friday said that Nargis Arafat, Mwanajuma Mweru Tayari, Saumu Athman and Mohamed Ibrahim who were all arrested in September 2015 en route to Garissa for a scheduled meeting with Al Shabaab operatives, should not be freed on bond owing to the fact that their accomplices were still at large and could finally sneak them out of the country.
“The suspects should never be granted a reprieve on bond because several of their accomplices are still freely roaming and may sneak them out to Somalia,” said Wamosa.
The four suspects have, however, denied the accusations of being Al-Shabaab members.
Wamosa was reacting to the lawyers of the accused, Chacha Mwita and Jared Magolo, who jointly renewed their application to have them granted bond.
Chacha, however, insisted their clients ought to be granted bail because the witnesses which the prosecution feared interference with, had already testified to the courts.
