Statehouse has finally broken its silence concerning the Monday protests that sparked viral debates both locally and internationally.
The government is now accusing the ODM opposition wing of sabotaging police issues to seek public sympathy in his standoff with the IEBC.
Issuing a public statement on Tuesday evening, the Statehouse director of digital information, Dennis Itumbi lambasted at a section of ODM bloggers for falsely feeding Kenyans with misleading information in its bid to taint the public face of the Kenyan police.
While responding to media reports that a Kiambu man named Bernard Ngatia had succumbed to police beatings, Itumbi discarded the news reports as being untrue as the real name of the pictured individual is Boniface Manono from Kibera who is still alive and kicking. The Statehouse director said the news emanated from opposition bloggers who he cited as being anti-government.
Itumbi went on to further clarify his sentiments by posting pictures of the said Kibera-based, Manono who he claimed is in financial crisis and desperately looking for funds to foot his medical bills.
The Monday incident has led to a public condemnation against the rogue officers caught in camera heartlessly beating up civilians.
