PRESS RELEASE.
As an ardent supporter and member of Jubilee Party under the leadership of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto, I must say that I am dismayed by statement attributed to Senate Majority leader and Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen that was aired by a local TV station over issues touching on the Presidency and the ruling Jubilee party.
First, Murkomen has publicly admitted on his volition that there are differences within the ruling party.
I find this interesting because he is a lone voice. President Kenyatta, his Deputy and National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale and most of the leaders have insisted that there are no differences or cracks in Jubilee as alleged by Murkomen. It is time Murkomen clearly pin point where the difference is.
Otherwise we will be made to believe that the difference is from him against the party. More interesting is the fact that, as a Majority Leader in the Senate, Murkomen is not an ordinary person and understands clearly the channels within which to air his concerns.
To me the statement was malicious and meant to bring division and discord in the ruling party.Secondly, Murkomen made serious and demeaning allegations to the effect that President Kenyatta has been held hostage by State House operatives.
As a senior leader in the party and in the senate, I find his statement as unfortunate, reckless and deliberately meant to injure the reputation of President Kenyatta.
I therefore wish to challenge Senator Murkomen to come out and boldly tell the country what he knows about the alleged "cartels" he purports to be controlling and arm twisting the Head of State.Understandably, Murkomen is making this allegations supposedly to defend and champion the course of the Deputy President.
I would like to point out that DP is a brand in himself. He does not need some reckless and egoistic politicians to market him. The likes of Senate Majority Leader, can be equated to some politicians who served during the regime of retired President Mwai Kibaki, who every time they spoke spoiled thousands of votes for him. Murkomen and a few other leaders calling themselves Ruto's close allies are in the same league.
They are a liability to the Deputy President. As an MP in the ruling party, I would like to assure Kenyans that we are in harmony and any allegations to the contrary should be dismissed. Kenyans should disregard the reckless and wild allegations from leaders who are keen to plant seeds of discord within the party ranks.
