Mwingi North MP Paul Nzengu has asked the government to put in place better measures to curb incidents of banditry attacks in the region.
Speaking to the press at his backyard, Nzegu said that incidents of banditry attacks have become rampant, adding that the residents are now living in fear. He called upon the county and national government to collaborate with security personnel in the nation to ensure that the residents are protected from the criminals.
"I urge the administration to make sure the residents will get maximum protection from police since these bandits are always ready for retaliation mission. The bandits always make sure that they tamper with residents farms so that they don't harvest anything. It's painful to hear them refer to locals crops as grass,“ he said as quoted by The Star.
He also lauded the residents for adhering to the calls of avoiding retaliation. He noted that the residents of this part of the nation are tired of bloodshed, adding that they are no longer interested in revenge like it has been in the past.
This is after the locals took 103 camels and their attendants to a police station. Bandit attacks have led to the deaths of around 35 persons in the last two years.
