Nyanza Regional Commissioner Wilson Njenga has warned all those planning to disrupt tomorrow’s polls to restrain or face the full force of the law.
Addressing the press on Wednesday in Kisumu, the officer said his team is ready and well prepared to secure the election, and promised all those who will be going out to vote of their security.
“It is their constitutional right, because under the Kenyan law, no one is forced to vote like other Scandinavian countries. We want to repeat once again that those willing to vote have their rights, and those not willing to vote have their rights as well.
The demonstrations that have taken place in this region that there will be no election, we want to reiterate that this right must be protected, just like we protect your right not to vote,” he said.
He added: “If you do not wish to vote, you will be better off at home, we will not allow you to interfere with other peoples’ rights and we will deal with such people very firmly,”
“Even leaders, no one is above the law, we will deal with everyone equally.”
The country goes to the polls tomorrow, Thursday, with the IEBC reiterating that they are ready to deliver a credible election.
