Western Stima secured a crucial 1-0 win over a gritty Posta Rangers side on Saturday at the Moi Stadium Kisumu to take the relegation duel down to the last match.
Stima who are currently placed 17th on the log needed the win to salvage their slim hopes of remaining in the top tier league and their narrow victory couldn't prove any better.
Determined not to disappoint, the electricians dominated proceedings in the first half and should have taken an early lead when Frederick Nyarombo scored in the 17th minute but he was adjudged to be offside.
Posta who also needed a win to consolidate their top three chase made several threats and should have scored but Denis Mukaisi saw his rasping shot go wide as the match proceeded to halftime.
On resumption, it was Stima who showed more hunger to pocket the three points. On the 80th minute, Bernard Ondiek lobbed a beautiful long pass to a wondering Ezekiel Otuoma who made no mistake, firing home to give Richard Makumbi's charges the deserved lead.
The mailmen should have equalized shortly after when Mukaisi was brought down inside the penalty box but he fluffed his shot over the bar as Stima held on to win the match.
The win which consolidated Stima's hold on seventeenth with 35 points now means that sixteenth placed Thika United who has played one game less must win the remainder of their matches to escape the relegation shocker.
