A firearm believed to have been stolen from slain security officers who were manning the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) in Ukunda, Kwale County, has been recovered in a house at Mnyenzeni area in Kasinango sub-county.According to Baraka FM, the AK 47 riffle went missing on September 3 after the attack, which was linked to suspected al -Shabaab militia.The suspects allegedly escaped from the scene of crime using a motorbike after stealing the gun, which were loaded with ammunition.Confirming the incident, Kwale acting county commission Mwangi Kahiro said police officers found the gun abandoned at the area chief’s doorstep after weeks of searching. However, Chief Benson Kokoi said he received a tip from persons whose identities were not disclosed, before he alerted the police over the same. Kokoi also said he visited the home of the suspects and discussed the matter with the parents.“We got information from some members of the public that there is a gun in that area,” said Kokoi, as quoted by the local daily.“I made follow ups and talked to the parents of the suspect and gave them a stern warning,” he added.
