Police officers in Likoni are on high alert after a G3 rifle that was stolen from a police constable's house at Likoni police station was used to murder a bar attendant in Radinas Club, Ushindi area.
The detectives are searching for the suspects who murdered Godwin Kwalera after he refused to part with Sh2,000.
The officer whose firearm was stolen is currently facing negligence charges at the Mombasa Law Courts.
Alexander Kipyegomen was charged for losing his G3 rifle loaded with 20 rounds of ammunition.
"We will use all means possible to arrest the suspect and recover all guns which are in the hands of the suspects,” said Likoni CID boss David Siele.
"We don't know who took the rifle since we are now on high alert over numerous al-Shabaab returnees in our region,” he added.
