Former Mumias West Member of Parliament, Godfrey Osotsi, on Friday urged Western region members of parliament to stop begging the DP for development.
Mr. Osotsi criticised Luhya MPs who had met with the deputy president on Thursday for their move which was described as egocentric.
"We cannot support the meeting that is focusing to spearhead the political destiny of an individual," said Osotsi.
According to Mr.Osotsi, he could not understand why the MPs had to meet the DP for development reasons when the budget had already been passed that would determine the developments to be undertaken by the government.
He therefore, described them as leaders who do not understand their roles as legislators.
"In the country's constitution. MPs make budgets based on development projects in their regions. We have just passed the budget recently determining what the government is going to do in terms of development.
"Why again should they hold a meeting with the deputy president to beg for development?" wondered Mr. Osotsi.
Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala also criticised the meeting saying it had a hidden agenda given that many leaders from the Western region were not involved.
"If this meeting was meant for development , it would have involved all leaders from the region. But in a case where a particular group of leaders is invited, then it depicts a hidden agenda," said Mr. Malala.
