Cord leader Raila Odinga's wife, Ida Odinga has told women to drop the 'cowards' hashtag and join active politics.
Ms Odinga said Nyanza region has few women in active politics.
She said the political arena was in women's favour since they are the majority.
“Our women have lagged behind in making political decisions because only a few express interests in active politics. It is high time women are supported to rise up in the political sphere,” She said.
She expressed concern that most women in Nyanza are still reluctant in taking up active political leadership and only rely on the mercies of getting opportunities in nominations by political parties or for special cases.
Ida said the two thirds gender principle could be met easily if women vied for and are elected in political posts.
She was speaking in Kisumu at an event where she condemned the heckling of Kisumu Women Representative Rose Nyamunga as she urged women to unite and work together.
