Nakuru’s Bahati Ward Representative Peter Muiruri has advised youths to stop job discrimination and be ready to do something meaningful that comes their way.
Speaking to youths groups on Saturday, Muiruri said that job discrimination has seen many youths fail to get opportunities. He observed unemployment is a big problem and that young people should do stop selecting jobs they want and those that they do not want to do.
“I urge youths to do anything that comes their way so long it is legal and stop this habit of selecting jobs,” said the ward Representative.
Muiruri said many young people especially graduates are discriminating and selecting the jobs they want.
He said many youths prefer white collar jobs compared to manual work noting that unemployment will continue to persist if youth fail to change their perceptions.
The Ward Representative noted that white collar jobs are limited and that youths should seek alternatives so long as they are able to earn income.
“White collar jobs are hard to come by since thousands of graduates are released to the market every year, the only way out is for youths to stop job discrimination and do anything that comes their way,” he added.
The Bahati MCA further challenged youth graduates in the ward to use the skills they have to start business ventures.
He urged graduates to stop wasting time looking for white collar jobs and take advantage of the resources available to start employment.
