Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has called on Budalangi Member of Parliament Ababu Namwamba to stop dreaming of forming a third force to rival Jubilee and Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) in the forthcoming elections.
Lusaka said that Ababu should decide to join either Cord or Jubilee coalitions, dismissing the Mulembe Consciousness narrative propagated by the Budalangi legislator and his group.
“The way the political scene is unfolding right now shows we will have only two horses in next year’s election. A point will reach when one will have to say they are either in Jubilee or Cord,” Lusaka said.
He reiterated that the Luhya community needed other communities to ascend to power.
Lusaka also said he has opted to be part of the Jubilee coalition since he believes it will form the next government.
“We tried being on our own through Musalia Mudavadi’s Amani coalition in 2013 and it backfired. We have therefore decided to work with potential winners and share the kill knowing that they will return the favour in due time,” he added.
Ababu has partially ditched the ODM party on grounds that he was being sidelined and has hinted at forming a third force.
He has vowed to march on despite Raila extending an olive branch to him and other ODM rebels.
