Kanu Secretary General Nick Salat has told Deputy President William Ruto to stop imagining that he will automatically become Kenya's President come 2022.
Salat said the DP should familiarise himself with the political history of the country and stop dreaming of becoming President.
"The Deputy President should understand the country's political history well. He should forget thinking that he will automatically be Kenya's president in 2022. That is a dream too far away to lecture people about," said Salat.
He related DP’s dilemma with that of former vice presidents, and called on Ruto learn from them.
Salat spoke during a funds-raiser at Chemogoch AIC, Baringo County, when he called on residents to turn down divisive politics, saying that the Kalenjin community does not owe any community a political debt.
"This community paid all the political debts in 2013 and it's now over,” he said.
Salat further pointed out that the community only backed President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy in a move to save them from ICC claws.
"You do not owe anyone a debt in 2017. Vote in leaders who can help you. The past two elections have not been about community but individuals," he said.
