Peace monitors appointed by the County government of Uasin Gishu have been urged not to engage in any political activities.
Speaking to the media on Saturday, governor Jackson Mandago argued that such a scenario would interfere with the peace monitors' core mandate, thus affecting their performance negatively.
"If you are in the county peace forum, then do not follow any campaign trail," he said.
"Those who want to engage in campaigns can leave the peace forums. We want to be sure of fair resolutions anytime we run to them," he added.
Mandago further challenged political leaders from the region to advocate for peace and unity ahead of next year's general elections.
