Politicians only care about themselves! This is a statement politicians in power will refute because it is gospel truth. First and foremost, it is, or it must be, understood that there are no enemies in the political battles.

To bring a very relevant political comparison, former US president Barrack Obama was recorded on camera slamming the then-presidential aspirant and now US president Donald Tramp saying he will never be president. Donald Trump, before he was elected he said that he would “deport” President Obama back to Kenya as though he was a Kenyan citizen.

But in the turn of events, when Donald Tramp was elected president, he was recorded on camera at the White House saying that he would seek President Obama’s counsel during his tenure in office.

Back home, it is the same. Deputy president William Ruto during the 2013 presidential campaign period made it a slogan that he knew who will never be president in Kenyan but he didn’t know who would then be the next president after Kibaki. These are some of the statements politicians make which are misinterpreted by the public.

What happened later? After a hotly opposed 2013 presidential election at the Supreme Court of Kenya, the opposition brigade seemed to be personally rivals of those on the government side but it was all a misconception of the ordinary Kenyan. There have been instances that have brought both the opposition and the government together.

Kenyans must wake up from the slumber and make-belief that political leaders are rivals. Because they eat together and cry together as brothers and business partners.
