Raila spoke during a boat racing competition at Siungu beach in Bondo Sub-county, bemoaning the raising rate at which the Kenyan fishermen were being fatigued and even molested by the Ugandan authorities. He said such unlawful acts should stop.

He also decried the high number of Kenyan fishermen who have been arrested and charged in the courts for allegedly fishing in the Uganda waters. The former premier urged Museveni to embrace the spirit of East African integration to make sure that there is peaceful coexistence between Kenyans and Ugandans.

The opposition chief warned the customs officers against soliciting money from innocent fishermen, pointing out that no fish has ever had a mark to show whether it belongs to the Kenyan or Ugandan waters.
