National Council of People Living with Disabilities ( NCPLD) has urged parents and guardians with children living with disabilities not to hide them.
Loise Kamunyi an official from NCPLD expressed her concerns with parents hiding their disabled children.
"We are urging parents with disabled children not to hide them. God has a plan with all of us. Look for a school which will fit your child and take him or her. The government will support you,” said Kamunyi.
Speaking in Nakuru town Kamunyi advised parents to register the children in special schools where they can learn and acquire skills.
She noted that some children are being locked up in the house hence denying them right to education.
"Children with disabilities and other challenges should be brought out in order to get exposure and assistance,” said Kamunyi.
She noted that stigma is still real when there is such case but she urged public to stop sidelining people because of their disability.
