President Uhuru Kenyatta's legitimacy has once again been questioned.

According to former Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire, Uhuru is a 'part-time' president with a restricted authority.

"Under the Constitution, President Kenyatta, as he stands, is a lame duck and lacks substantive authority of the Presidency to lecture the country on any matter," Bosire wrote in an article published by The Star on Friday.

The ODM National Treasurer said Uhuru should wait for the repeat presidential election set for October 26 go get a fresh mandate from Kenyans.

"The President should allow the will of Kenyans to prevail. He should stop imposing himself on Kenyans," he said.

The former MP added: "NASA and Jubilee are all candidates and equal before the eyes of the voters. President Uhuru must stop unnecessary chest-thumping because it doesn't help much."

Contrary to Bosire's views, President Uhuru still enjoys executive authority, including being Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

This is according to Attorney-General Githu Muigai- the government's chief legal adviser.

"There is nothing like a transitional or interim government. Until the swearing-in of the newly elected president, the government in office enjoys legitimacy. The legitimacy of the office is by full force," Muigai said on Friday.
