Kisumu County assembly minority leader Eddy Anayo wants MCAs to pull together and avoid the constant bickering. Anayo said the continued infighting within the assembly members has hindered the growth of the county. He said MCAs should remain focused and play their oversight role on the executive. “MCAs should not be divided, they must remain united and ensure they carry the oversight role on the executive,” he said. He said the supremacy wars will worsen the situation in Kisumu County, noting that residents look upon them for service delivery. Speaking to the press in Kisumu, Anayo alleged a scheme by the executive to fuel the infighting among the assembly members. He said that is aimed at putting the MCAs at loggerheads to allow the executive to carry on with some illegalities. Anayo appealed to Governor Jack Ranguma to bring the warring MCAs together to foster a working relationship amongst them. “Ranguma as the county president should put the assembly in order so that this infighting should stop,” he said. The assembly has been dogged by the infighting that led to the impeachment of Speaker Ann Adul who was recently reinstated by the industrial court. In the meantime, Ranguma has convened a three-day retreat for the county staff that will also include the MCAs in Nairobi, starting this Friday.
