Nakuru county assembly speaker Susan Kihika has called on leaders to respect one another.
Speaking at Kiamaina Secondary School in Bahati over the weekend, Ms Kihika asked the area MP, Onesmus Ngunjiri to stop insulting governor Kinuthia Mbugua and instead give him time to serve his electorate.
"I urge Hon Kimani to give the governor a break and stop abusive language day in day out. The time is coming for people of Nakuru to elect their leaders but those in power should be respected," said the speaker.
Ms Kihika who is also eying the senatorial seat urged the lawmaker to desist from dragging her family's name as the issue on the ownership of the 42 acre piece of land is a private issue.
"I'm pleading with him (Ngunjiri) to avoid dragging my family image into the mud and instead give his best to his electorate. My family is a private entity and we should not be dragged into the public," added the speaker.
The MP had earlier retaliated that some of the family members were from his constituency and that he was in the committee that was planning on the burial of the late Kimani Kihika, the father to the county speaker.
Ms Kihika was speaking during a women's groups funds-drive at the institution.
