The opposition coalition is destructing IEBC from effectively preparing for the August 8 polls by filling many cases in courts against the electoral body, says former Kibwezi West MP Kalembe Ndile.

Ndile said NASA should respect IEBC’s independency as stipulated in the constitution so that it be fully responsible for the forthcoming elections and its outcomes.

He said the electoral commission might take the political interferences from NASA as excuse in case it fails to deliver free, fair and peaceful elections.

“It is high time NASA stops interfering with IEBC, don’t take the electoral body to court anymore,” said Ndile.

The Jubilee party Mavoko Parliamentary aspirant addressed the press in Athi River town on Monday.

Ndile said it was not patriotic for NASA to take IEBC to court over tendering of presidential ballot papers printing earlier awarded to Al Ghurair Printing and Publishing Company.

“Kuweka hiyo kesi kortini haikuwa uzalendo, do not interfere with IEBC and its operations. You will be blamed for sabotaging the commission’s work if it fails to deliver credible elections to Kenyans,” said Ndile.

Ndile said NASA should not move to Supreme Court to challenge the Court of Appeal’s ruling which handed IEBC victory after it reversed an earlier order that had stopped the printing of presidential printing papers.

“IEBC should be given ample time and conducive environment to properly plan for the elections,” said Ndile.

He said the electoral body’s officials might say they had pressure and suffered lack of political good will from the opposition coalition during the time they were battling court cases.

Ndile said NASA officials should be contented with the Supreme Court ruling on tendering of the presidential ballot papers since they had won several court cases against IEBC.

He said Kenyans should learn seeking alternative ways of solving differences out of court.

“Not every single issue should be taken to court, let’s embrace alternative ways of solving our differences amicably as Kenyans,” said Ndile.

Ndile said Kenyans are ready for the elections on August 8 hence need to avoid any issues which might lead to postponement of the polls.
