An MP has asked Deputy President William Ruto to stop interfering with her marital and political life.
Busia Women Rep Florence Mutua on Thursday accused the DP of interfering with the politics of Busia county.
She asked Mr Ruto to focus at solving problems affecting Kenyans and stop meddling into the affairs of other elected leaders.
"I wish to tell the Deputy President to get off my back and steer clear of my and Busia politics,"she said in a Thursday statement.
"I am a proud daughter of Western Kenya by birth and I am a resident of Western by marriage. Ruto must not attempt to define my origins for me and he must get out of my personal birth and marital life."
She spoke three days after a section of MCAs from Busia, majority of whom were from the Cord coalition met Ruto in Nairobi.
The MCAs met the DP in his Nairobi residence, a development that raised eyebrows back in the county which largely supports Cord.
The MCAs who met the DP however, argued that the agenda for the meeting was purely developmental.
"I also wish to ask Mr Ruto to stop undermining women who have fought so hard to secure seats in our immensely male-dominated politics," the ODM Deputy Organizing Secretary added.
"However, if the DP has problems with me personally, I challenge him to face me directly and stop using MCAs to fight his personal wars."
She accused Ruto of fighting her and Busia Govenor Sospeter Ojaamong.
"DP Ruto should bear in mind that even in his side of the coalition married women who contested and will contest in their places of birth are facing it rough," she said.
"We expect him to give them support, not undermine them through reckless declarations driven by male chauvinism."
