Senate Majority Leader Kithure Kindiki has accused opposition alliance NASA of intimidating electoral agency IEBC.
Speaking on Monday, Kindiki termed remarks made by NASA leaders during a political rally in Nakuru on Sunday as "intimidation of independent institutions", warning that the opposition's demands could throw the country into chaos and anarchy.
"Raila Odinga and NASA have embarked on an unlawful, contemptuous, dangerous confrontation with IEBC over a matter that is before the courts. Every time the Opposition feels the heat is too much, it resorts to intimidation and violence. The same NASA forced us to replace IEBC commissioners. As Jubilee, we acceded because we wanted to avoid loss of lives. The same NASA is now intimidating IEBC and the Judiciary," he noted.
"NASA's disregard for critical pillars of our democracy and their violent rhetoric exhibits a recklessness that is worrying. We therefore condemn Odinga's careless statements and NASA's evil agenda," he added.
NASA had threatened to boycott the polls should the courts rule in favor of IEBC's appeal on voter tallying and announcement.
