Nyando MP Fred Outa has termed as intimidation by the government a decision to revoke the gun licenses for Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho.
Mr Outa said the country passed a new Constitution that heralded a new beginning terming the move backward.
He said the government should not run the country without following the new law that was overwhelmingly voted by Kenyans.
“Kenyans should not allow to be taken back to the old days of KANU, we have a new Constitution in place that should guide every step being taken by the government,” he said.
The MP said the government will be held liable in case Governor Joho meets any criminal eventuality after the withdrawal of his security.
Speaking in his constituency on Monday when he met provincial administration officials, Outa said that Coalition for Reforms and Democracy supporters will be behind Joho during his tribulations.
He told Joho to remain steadfast noting that the people are behind him and will offer the security the government has withdrawn from him.
Outa said there is no convincing reason why the government is withdrawing gun licenses from leaders.
“I want to call upon Cord supporters to remain actively behind Governor Joho during this time. Let the people be his security,” he said.
