Embattled Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire has come under defense from his constituents moments after his security guards were withdrawn by the government.
Bosire had defied an order by President Uhuru Kenyatta to honour Kenyan soldiers who were butchered by Al Shabaab militia in Somalia early this year, a decision that annoyed government leading to withdrawal of his security guards.
But the government’s stand hasn't gone well with Masaba residents, with a number of them seizing the opportunity to fire stern warning in the official Facebook account of the constituency on Saturday.
“I may not agree with him (Bosire) but going to an extent of withdrawing his guards is a total abuse to the people who elected him. He is our MP and must be respected whenever he speaks on our behalf,” said Irene Kemunto.
“It’s absurd for the government to panic to an extent of intimidating our MP. They must respect us because he defied the order given what we go thrrough. We know families of slain soldiers and victims of terrorism from the constituency who have never been compensated so the MP was right to express his dissatisfaction on our behalf,” added Julius Momanyi.
They warned the government of a humiliating defeat if it fails to reinstate the security of the legislator in the 2017 general elections.
“This is politics and the government has to tread carefully. They must reinstate the security or we revenge in 2017 polls,” said Nyamwaro.
