The former North Mugirango MP Wilfred Moriasi Ombui has challenged leaders spearheading the Omogusii unity to also involve their counterpart from Nyamira County to avert divisions.
Ombui who spoke to this writer on Tuesday said leaders from Kisii County have sidelined Nyamira people and are only after championing unity for their own good.
“I challenge leaders in Kisii County spearheading the Omogusii unity to unite the whole Omogusii and not just a section of the Gusii people,” Ombui said.
He said there should be no divisions because both Kisii and Nyamira residents belong to the Abagusii community, arguing that it should not be that only a section of Kisii leaders want to speak on their behalf.
“There were no consultations from all leaders and stakeholders of the Omogusii community. Instead they want to intimidate the people of Nyamira with the Omogusii unity. The people of Nyamira too have votes and we have a bargaining power. Let them review their agenda to include us unless if they are doing it for their own selfish interests. They should stop intimidating the people of Nyamira with the Omogusii unity slogan,” Ombui finally said.
