Two politicians from Machakos county have called upon Senator Johnson Muthama to desist from coercing and attempting to intimidate other Wiper Party leaders in the region to back his preferred candidates in the next general polls.

This comes a few days after Governor Kivutha Kibwana affirmed that he is not going to fold up his Muungano Party to join Wiper as Muthama has been agitating.

Addressing residents at St Augustine Mulolongo Secondary School during the issuance of bursaries to poor students, Mavoko MP Patrick Makau said that equality must prevail in Wiper Party as the next general election draws closer.

“We don’t want to be forced to support certain candidates. Everyone should be prepared to go to the people and ask for votes because there are no sacred cows in Wiper,” he said, as quoted by the Star.

On Saturday, Muthama has called for a meeting at a hotel in Athi River to seek support Machakos Deputy Governor Bernard Kiala as he looks forward to dethroning Governor Alfred Mutua during the next general.

East Africa Legislative Assembly MP Peter Mathuki has, however, dismissed the meeting while terming it a non-Wiper affair.

He claimed that he is not aware that Muthama met some leaders since he understands all party meetings are held at the national office.
