Riamoni location Chief Francis Rasugu has urged the area residents to respect public lands especially along the roads.
This comes following increased cultivation activities and subsequent planting of crops that make it impossible for road expansion when need be.
Speaking on Thursday at a Baraza near his offices, Chief Rasugu urged farmers to desist from engaging in the activity since, according to him, it was hindering many projects in the area.
“It is quite unfortunate that our people are cultivating along the roads. That is illegal and it cannot be accepted at any time in my administration. We need to respect our government by taking care of what belongs to all,” said Chief Rasugu.
He added that the reason why they are advising against the act simply because when it comes to road expansion, people and up loosing property causing unnecessary tension between the government and the residents.
This comes moments after more than a hundred residents from the county encountered massive loses following the ongoing construction of Metamaywa-Kebirigo road that saw many of alleged illegal buildings demolished.
“We do not want you to suffer in future. Time has come for you to respect what the government says. We will arrest whoever ignores the directive,” added Rasugu.
